Capacity building and human resources development
To ethically and sustainably support local capacity building, the USI leans on a large network of partners, built over time through experience with health authorities and universities in various countries. It also relies on the highly qualified resources of the CHUM and the Université de Montréal’s École de santé publique, facultés de médecine et des sciences infirmières (School of Public Health, Faculties of Medicine and Nursing).
Together with its partners, the USI takes a skills-based and interdisciplinary approach. Together, they can thus support training for the promotion of health, the evaluation of health intervention programs and methods, and the evaluation of new technologies, as well as support the carrying out intervention research.
Some examples of our involvement :
- Support in the realization of human resources (HR) development plans, evaluation of HR management practices;
- Planning of funding, management and organization of services, including decentralization and regionalization;
- Strengthening of leadership and management capacities (managers and executives) to design and implement lasting changes in health systems;
- Support governments in strengthening their governance and regulatory capacities;
Design of HR planning and management methods and tools appropriate to the context and needs, including information systems and electronic databases.
