Appointment of the USI Management Committee whose members represent the multidisciplinarity of USI interventions and come from different faculties of the Université de Montréal as well as from organizations in the Quebec health and social services network.

Integration of the USI with the newly created École de santé publique de l’Université de Montréal.
2002
Synergy with the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and the Centre de recherche du CHUM (CRCHUM) (the Université de Montréal’s hospital and research centre): the USI begins to realize certain activities under the CHUM and a global health branch is created at the CRCHUM.

Extension of the USI mission to now offer expertise, following the recommendations of an interfaculty committee, composed of professors and deans.

Creation of the USI, affiliated with the Université de Montréal’s Faculté de médecine (Faculty of Medicine).
